The economic value of imports from Morocco amounts to 552,000 million dirhams at the end of September

At the end of September this year, the value of imports from Morocco reached a record 552 billion dirhams; This represents an increase of 43.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the monthly bulletin of the exchange office, in the first nine months, Morocco exported about 317 billion dirhams, an increase of 37.4 percent.

It is evident from official data that Morocco’s trade deficit amounted to 234.4 billion dirhams, a growth of 53.3 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

The exchange house said that the increase in the value of imports included all products, especially the energy bill, which amounted to 114 billion dirhams, which more than doubled compared to September 2021, and the rise is attributed to the evolution of international prices. level.

Imports of wheat and barley played an important role in increasing Morocco’s purchases of food products by 52.5 percent, reaching a value of 67 billion dirhams; Only 20 billion dirhams is for wheat, which increased by 10 billion dirhams compared to last year.

Exports of phosphate and its derivatives have performed well during the first nine months of the current year, reaching Dh91.8bn, compared to Dh55.1bn last year.

The government is counting on this good performance of the Sharif Phosphates Office to support the state budget next year with 10 billion dirhams, according to the expectations of the 2023 finance bill.

The second sector in terms of exports is automobiles, with sales of 77,600 million; This is the highest figure reached in the last five years.

Community remittances in Morocco continue to achieve good numbers, as the value transferred to the homeland by the community reached some 80,000 million dirhams, compared to 72,400 million dirhams in the same period last year.

Tourism receipts more than doubled to Dh62.2bn, compared with Dh24.9bn last year; This represents an increase of 136.3%.
