The Essel Association for Theater and Cultural Activation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication (Culture Sector), the Mohammed V Theater, the Mohammed V University and the Moroccan National Tourist Office, organizes the eighth edition of the International Festival of Theater Institutes from November 4 to 9, under the patronage of King Mohammed VI. .
A statement reached by Hespress pointed out that this festival “is a platform for meeting, training and theatrical artistic exchange between art specialists, graduates and professors from higher institutes of theater art from around the world,” adding that “after the global health crisis, the International Theater Institutes Festival returns with a rich program in different theaters of the capital, The Kingdom, which is the Mohammed V Theater, and the Bahnini Hall of the Mohammed V University, and this artistic event and international culture is part of the programming of Rabat, the African Capital of Culture”.
Dozens of theatrical performances participate this year in the International Festival of Theater Institutes, presented by higher institutes of theater art from various countries, such as the Everding Theater Academy in Munich (Germany), the National Institute of Arts and Cultural Action in Abidjan ( Republic of Côte d’Ivoire), the Cairo Academy of Arts (Egypt), and the Higher School of Theater Arts in Madrid (Spain), the Morey Kanti Higher Institute of Arts in Dobreca (Guinea), the Sofia Theater Academy Amendolia of Rome (Italy), the Faculty of Letters, Languages and Arts of the Ibn Tofail University of Kenitra, the University of the Arts of Utrecht (The Netherlands) and the Dimitri Academy (Switzerland).
The communication specifies that this year’s jury is chaired by Dr. Mohamed Boubou, Moroccan playwright, secretary general of the African Association of Theater Institutes and research professor, former head of the Cultural Revitalization Division of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Art and Revitalization Cultural. in Rabat.
The other members of the jury are: Professor Regina Jules, Secretary General of the European Association of Theater Institutes (Germany), Professor Rolf Almy, Set Designer from Norway, Professor Fatima Mekdad, Professor at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Art and Cultural Revitalization of Rabat and Mahmoud Belhassan, actor, director and professor of Art Education Founder of the Meknes Drama Festival, creative artist Abdellatif Ferdous, Moroccan playwright and director.
During the festival, special artistic workshops will be organized for Moroccan students and young people who love theater, in collaboration with the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands), the Sophia Amendolia Theater Academy in Rome (Italy) and the Los Circo School (Spain).
It should be noted that “the opening of the eighth session of the International Festival of Theater Institutes will take place on Friday, November 4, starting at seven in the afternoon at the Mohammed V Theater in Rabat,” according to the text of the statement.
