The signing ceremony of collaboration agreements between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and several Moroccan universities, which took place this Thursday in Rabat, to “develop and download a volunteer program for the benefit of the annual general assembly of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund Fund, which will be hosted by the city of Marrakech in October 2023.”
A press release issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, reached by the electronic newspaper Hespress, indicated that the signing ceremony was presided over by prominent Moroccan figures, including the Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fattah, the Minister of Higher Education, Research Scientist and Innovation Abdellatif Miraoui, as well as Abdellatif Jouahri, Wali of Bank Al-Maghrib.
The objective of these agreements, according to the same source, is “to define a collaboration framework to mobilize the efforts of 500 students, as volunteers, from the signatory university institutions”, noting that “this is framed in the context of the general assembly of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Morocco”.
The signing ceremony was marked by the presence and participation of officials and representatives of Moroccan universities interested in the subject. Especially the Mohammed V University in Rabat, the Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, the Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, the International University of Rabat and the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. In the coming months, other university institutions will be invited to join the same partnership program.
Mobilize student volunteers for the benefit of participating and contributing to the annual general meetings of the two international financial institutions, with the aim of “promoting and improving the image of Moroccan youth, highlighting their participation and commitment in major projects and events of the Kingdom”, underlines the Ministry of Economy, adding that it is an opportunity for student volunteers that gives them the chance to live the unique experience offered by hosting Baladna Morocco for the 2023 edition of the annual general assembly of the two largest economies. and financial institutions in the world.
The same ministry drew attention to the fact that this event constitutes the “largest annual meeting of international finance”; Concluding that “some 14,000 personalities are expected to participate, including economy and finance ministers and governors of global central banks from 189 member countries of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank; In addition to the presence of senior executives and managers of international financial companies, experts and specialists, with representatives of the main media, non-governmental organizations and academia”.
