Anesthesiologists criticize Ait Taleb’s decision

The National Federation of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators condemned the content of the correspondence from the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khaled Ait Taleb, on ensuring the continuity of anesthesia and resuscitation work in public hospitals, pointing out that it contained many false data.

The same federation clarified that the shortage of anesthesiologists and resuscitators, which is known to the public health sector in Morocco, cannot in any way push health sector officials to issue decisions or periodic publications that contradict international recommendations and scientific studies, noting that this can endanger health. health of female citizens Citizens face ominous dangers as a justification for the failure of successive governments in the management of the health sector.

He added that these decisions offend the specialization in resuscitation and anesthesia, which is a basic pillar in the health system, recalling the fundamental role played by anesthesiologists and resuscitators in the face of the ‘Corona-19’ crisis.

He explained that anesthesia, by its nature, is complex and very dangerous, requiring a safe environment and a high level of expertise in medical diagnosis, such as pharmacology, physiology and anatomy, in addition to many scientific skills.

The same source indicated that the World Health Organization and the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists (WHO-WFSA) state that anesthesia is a scientific medical practice that must be performed or supervised by an anesthesiologist.

The specialty of anesthesia and resuscitation, the federal statement clarifies, is not only limited to hypnotizing the patient and waking him up, as some think, but also includes evaluating his health status before surgery, managing problems and health history, and intervening of urgency during the operation in case of complications or complications at the level of vital functions of the patient, as well as the care of the patient after surgery, such as the prevention and treatment of complications and the pain that may derive from it.

The same federation highlighted the important and fundamental role played by anesthesiology and resuscitation nurses within the national health system in harmony and agreement with anesthesiologists and resuscitators for a healthy and safe practice.

In his statement, he recalled the efforts of anesthesiologists and resuscitators in the public sector, despite their small number, to contribute to the improvement of the public service, despite all the obstacles and the absence of the lowest working conditions and the absence of incentives, causing many of them to resign or leave public office, and pushing many young doctors into alienation. This competition is different from the rest of the world, which appreciates it.

The same statement referred to a previous memorandum addressed to the Minister of Health warning of the repercussions of not paying attention to this specialty, and also presented many proposals that were not taken into account, such as the creation of large autonomous and regional centers of attention , with the grouping of doctors within it, and the provision of all working conditions based on equipment and sufficient human resources, and facilitating the access of citizens to these poles at the appropriate times.

Proposals also included motivating anesthesiologists and resuscitators by increasing on-call compensation and pay, and ensuring ongoing training, as well as training a sufficient number of contract physicians to compensate for honoring physicians who have retired.
