The Lesieur Crystal group made a profit of some 223 million dirhams in the first half of this year, compared to 44 million dirhams in the same period last year; This represents a growth of more than 400 percent.
The company stated, in its financial results statement, that turnover increased to AED3.5 billion, compared to AED2.3 billion a year ago, an increase of 52 per cent.
The company said that its activity was affected in the first half of this year by the increase in raw materials at the international level, especially oilseeds; This directly affected the availability of crude sunflower and soybean oils.
Le Sieur Crystal indicated that the increase in the number of transactions at the end of June comes after the years 2020 and 2021, which were characterized by the effects of the Covid-19 health crisis on the consumption of Moroccan families.
The Moroccan group stated that it will develop a local oilseed production chain, in order to guarantee a stable production of oils at a national and international level.
Le Sieur Cristal, a subsidiary of the French group Avril, has 3 production units in Morocco, two plants in Tunisia and one plant in Senegal. The group’s products include table oils, olive oil and some hygiene items.
